The Instagram account of Metro Magazine has been compromised following the unveiling of their newest cover, featuring “Till I Met You” stars James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
The local magazine acknowledged the breach, which they described as a form of “harassment,” in a statement released through Facebook Wednesday evening. It has since been deleted.
“The Metro team is sad to report that our Instagram account @metromagph has been compromised right after our cover release of the October #MetroXJaDine issue,” the statement read. “We’re very proud of this issue: Not only did we work with Nadine and James closely, having them as guest editors, we also feature some of the most exciting people, places, and brands in fashion and lifestyle.”
“Metro Magazine and our ABS-CBN Publishing family will not allow this form of harassment to inhibit us from being a service to our readers. While we’re trying to bring the perpetrators to light, we hope you can continue supporting this issue through our sister publications who have joined us in protest over this incident. Thank you!” the magazine concluded.
As of writing, the Instagram account of Metro Magazine “isn’t available.” The same goes for the page of ABS-CBN Online.
On Twitter, Lustre told her followers that “we’ll get to the bottom of this” after it was brought to her attention that several of her and Reid’s fan pages on Instagram were taken down as well. She also warned of a possible fake e-mail from the supposed “Instagram Team.”
