Sarah Geronimo took home the Best Asian Performer award at the 2016 Classic Rock Awards in Japan on Friday.
Geronimo attended the awarding ceremony held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Stadium in Tokyo. She performed with fellow Kapamilya singer Bamboo, as part of a lineup of artists that included the likes of Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine.
Geronimo’s feat broke a relatively quiet year compared to 2015, which saw the pop singer launch her award-winning 12th studio album titled “The Great Unknown” and perform on back-to-back nights at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
In September, Geronimo was nominated for Best Southeast Asian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
She also recorded ABS-CBN’s Christmas station ID along with Bamboo, Sharon Cuneta, Lea Salonga, and a mix of winners and finalists from the “The Voice Kids.”
